Barn Light Electric Launches Line of LED Lighting
TITUSVILLE, Fla. (January 23, 2013) — Barn Light Electric LLC announces the launch of their new line of LED lighting using the most innovative LED technology from Cree, Inc. Since their foray into the LED industry more than 20 years ago, Cree revolutionized the industry with its pioneering product development. For Barn Light Electric, this collaboration means a major expansion within its own product lines.
Combining the wildly popular vintage lighting styles that Barn Light Electric is known for with the energy-efficient aspects of LED lighting offers consumers the best of both worlds – stylish lighting designs coupled with bright white light using Cree's TrueWhite® technology that resembles the warm light from a traditional incandescent bulb.
The LED components are available in a wide variety of Barn Light Electric products including the most popular gooseneck, stem mount, cord hung, wall sconce, and RLM warehouse shades.
“You can now have all the style and charm of vintage-style barn light fixtures coupled with LED technology,” says Barn Light Electric Owner Bryan Scott. “You can truly have the best of both worlds with energy-efficient LED lighting available in all of your favorite barn lighting styles.”
This advancement in LED technology makes Barn Light Electric the only supplier in the USA of Benjamin™, Goodrich™, and Ivanhoe™ porcelain lights. Barn Light Electric’s Project Manager and LED Liaison Scott Dodson has played a pivotal role in the marriage of Cree’s technology with Barn Light Electric’s lighting fixtures.
“While LED lighting is hardly new, many people are unclear on all of the benefits of using LEDs,” Dodson says. “When you invest in LED lighting, it may cost more up front than incandescent or fluorescent bulbs, but you’ll start saving money, through reduced energy consumption and lower maintenance costs, the minute you flip the switch.”
Dodson notes that the newest LEDs offer bright, natural light. The color rendering index (CRI) characterizes light sources on a scale of 0 to 100 for their ability to produce “natural light.” The closer an LED light comes to 100 on the CRI, the more naturally colors are rendered. The CRI of fluorescent tubes is often around 72. Barn Light Electric LED fixtures, utilizing the latest in Cree technology, have a CRI between 92 and 94.
LEDs also offer substantial energy savings. Most of the energy emitted from incandescent bulbs is converted to heat instead of light. LED lighting is about 85 percent more efficient than incandescent bulbs. Since LEDs consume significantly less energy, they don’t emit as much heat. LED lights are designed to last about 50,000 hours which means less waste.
LEDs do not contain hazardous materials such as mercury. Since fluorescent tubes and CFLs contain mercury, they must be disposed of properly. The U.S. Department of Energy estimates that widespread adoption of LED lighting by 2025 will reduce electricity demands from lighting by 62 percent and eliminate 258 million metric tons of carbon emissions.
With this energy-efficient and environmentally friendly profile, LED lights are fast becoming the light bulb of choice for consumers. And now, with the introduction of the Barn Light Electric line of LED fixtures, consumers won’t have to sacrifice style for efficiency.
