Central Florida Lighting Company Teams with “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” to Brighten Injured Army Veteran’s Home

When US Army Staff Sergeant Shilo Harris was seriously injured by an IED in Iraq, he fought to ensure that all of his troops were safe before he would receive treatment for his injuries. Harris, a husband and father of two, is on a long road to recovery but still supports his fellow soldiers by serving as an inspirational speaker who helps others cope with life-changing injuries.

The Harris family, of Wilson County, Texas, was recently selected by the “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” team to receive a dream home makeover. Central Florida’s Barn Light Electric Company participated in the makeover by donating barn-style lighting for the home.

“We love to give back to those who have given to their community and to their country,” says Bryan Scott, owner of Barn Light Electric and fellow Army veteran. “This show makes it possible for us to give some American-made lighting to some amazing people who truly deserve it.”

The episode, filmed in early 2012, will air in December as part of the series’ final season. Barn Light Electric has participated in four “Extreme Makeover” home builds by donating lighting and although the show may be ending, Barn Light Electric intends to continue its philanthropic ways in other venues.
